Company History
McNally Brothers Machine Company was established in 1942 by the three McNally brothers. James, Donald and Miles McNally developed, grew and operated the business as a defense oriented company from the very beginning. Some of the first contracts were for manufacturing mechanical fuses and later a wide variety of defense related customers and component products.
In 1972 the Company was sold to Al Sorenson and the name was changed to McNally Industries, Inc. During this era, some efforts were made to diversify McNally with some commercial business to complement the military segments. In 1982 Sorenson made a strategic decision to purchase the Northern® pump product line rights from FMC (now BAE Systems). This pump product line is almost wholly a commercial customer product. Just over one year later, in 1983 the entire enterprise was sold to Albert Scheideler.
During the Scheideler era, McNally Industries began to change significantly. The company moved from being a component manufacturer to a systems manufacturer with product lines. In the late 1980's McNally Industries began manufacturing nuclear reactor cooling pumps for submarines and aircraft carriers. It also became the sole source supplier to the United States Navy for the Mk6 Ammunition handling system that supplies the Mk45 gun and later marketed the system to allied navies.
Al Scheideler owned and operated the company until February 2003 when he sold McNally Industries, Inc. to Thomas Brunts and Robert Levine. Both Mr. Brunts and Mr. Levine have significant previous experience in the defense and aerospace industry and plan to grow and reshape the company. The company became known as McNally Industries LLC and the new owners plan to grow the new company through organic growth and key acquisitions that augment McNally capabilities.
In July of 2005, McNally Industries, LLC purchased the assets of Sun Countries, Inc of Albuquerque, New Mexico which added further strength and capability to the corporation. Sun Country is a key supplier of airframe control assemblies and aircraft engine products to the world's foremost aerospace manufacturers.
